Sanders Whiting teaches online voice lessons. He is an Estill Master Trainer and does crossover training in the qualities of Belt, Opera, Twang, Sob, Speech and Falsetto. In addition to his private voice studio he trains faculty and staff in voice and presentation skills at Simon Fraser University. He has taught singing, voice and speech for 7 years in the professional theatre programs at Capilano University.
His training includes an MFA Theatre (Acting), bachelor degrees in both education and classical music, and a diploma in popular music. He also has studied with front line teachers in the singing and musical theatre industries including internationally acclaimed Anne-Marie Speed (London), Tom Burke (New York), and the president of Estill International, Kim Steinhauer.
Since 2013 he has hosted the 5 Day Estill Courses in Vancouver with distinguished international instructors.
Highlights in his training include leading practice groups for his EMT apprenticeship at the Estill World Voice Symposium at Harvard University in 2013.
Other previous voice training includes 2 years with David Smukler learning Linklater technique for actors and appoggio training with Richard Miller.
His extensive theatre career includes the original cast of the mega musical Lord of the Rings, multiple casts of Forever Plaid, lead roles in both musical and non musical plays, plus nominations and an award for Vancouver's professional Jessie Richardson theatre awards. He originated roles in two plays by Michael O’Brien at the National Arts Centre. He has played in theatres across Canada and has toured internationally. In the animation world he voiced the character of Wimpy in a Popeye TV special with Kathy Bates and Billy West. He appeared in a principle role in the tv series Da Vinci’s Inquest.
His next goal is to complete his certification Estill Mentor & Course Instructor.
He currently teaches dedicated goal oriented clients and also offers coaching for those seeking the certificate of Estill Figure Proficiency.
