ABOUT SANDERS
Sanders Whiting’s studio offers singers and actors a space to elevate their vocal skills. As a seasoned audition coach and repertoire builder, Sanders emphasizes vocal freedom, range expansion, and technique stabilization. A Master Trainer in Estill Voice Training—one of only three in Western Canada—he encourages students to explore multiple genres using this renowned method.
Sanders holds an MFA in Theatre (Acting), bachelor’s degrees in education and classical music, and a diploma in contemporary popular music. He has trained with industry leaders like Anne-Marie Speed (London), Tom Burke (New York), and Kim Steinhauer, president of Estill International. His background also includes Linklater Voice Training and studies with voice science pioneer Richard Miller at the Oberlin Conservatory.
As an actor, Sanders has performed across Canada and internationally, earning accolades like a 2023 Ovation Award nomination for his role as Herr Schultz in Cabaret. Notable credits include the original cast of Lord of the Rings: The Musical, Forever Plaid, lead roles in both musical and dramatic productions, and originating roles at Canada’s National Arts Centre. He has received nominations and an award from Vancouver’s Jessie Richardson Theatre Awards. In animation, Sanders voiced Wimpy in a Popeye TV special alongside Kathy Bates and Billy West, and has appeared in Vancouver-based film and TV.
Since 2014, Sanders has coached faculty in voice and presentation skills at Simon Fraser University and was an adjunct professor of singing, speech, and text at Capilano University from 2014 to 2021. He works with dedicated students eager to expand their vocal and artistic abilities and offers coaching for the Estill Figure Proficiency certificate.
